October’s First Sunday Drive was one of a kind, or as one member referred to it, a five star experience. Our leaders, Rico Bautista and Mikey Vasquez who are fairly new members, jointly led the drive. The morning meeting location with a nearby Starbucks for everyone to get their morning caffeine jolt was typical, except our leaders provided and served the coffee in front of Rico’s Sprinter van. Once everyone was fully caffeinated, 10 Mercedes-Benz brand vehicles and 1 yellow car, a Ferrari (the Benz was in the shop) followed behind Rico in his tall Sprinter van and Mikey in his brand new Metris van courtesy of Autobahn Motors. With these 2 tall vehicles leading the way, no one lost their way. We first visited Las Vaqueros Reservoir and then off to Del Valle Park in Livermore where Rico’s wife and family were busy grilling hamburgers and hot dogs to perfection with other picnic favorites waiting for the hungry drivers. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful fall drive and the BBQ, relaxing by the lake watching the geese and wild turkeys in the background as they ate and mingled.
